Hi, I'm Rung0.
I build things.
Controls guy by trade, builder by habit. This is where I keep the projects: software that maps what's underground, tools for the plant floor, simulators, and machines on the bench.
001About
I lead maintenance and controls in manufacturing: Allen-Bradley PLCs, drives, servos, safety systems and the networks that tie them together. Most of my week is figuring out why a machine stopped and making sure it doesn't do it again.
I've worked in mining, beer and manufacturing, and I've been taking things apart to see how they work for as long as I can remember.
Off the clock I'm spending time underground, at the 3D printer, or chasing whatever geology, physics or radar question has my attention that week.

002Projects
BCCS Cave Atlas
Decades of cave surveys drawn in 3D under the LIDAR ground surface, for the Butler Cave Conservation Society. Passages, survey maps, a 3D geology model, dye traces, cave streams, sinkholes and trip reports, all in one place members can explore and add to.
NEMO
An open-source Python toolkit that reads Rockwell L5X project files and turns them into interactive HTML troubleshooting guides, with a program diff tool and batch processing. The guide you wish came with every machine.
NEXRAD radar pipeline
Pulling live Level II weather radar from the public NEXRAD archive and rendering it with Py-ART, on the way to a self-hosted radar web app with its own ingest loop and index.
Paleostack
Plate-tectonic reconstructions of how the continents moved, starting with an animation of Gondwana breaking apart, with seafloor-age grids and an interactive globe next.
Earthquake Lab
An earthquake simulator: pick a fault type and how it moves, on land or under the sea, then watch the rupture, the seismic waves, ground shaking, soil liquefaction and the tsunami it sends up the coast.
Implosion Lab
A game about bringing buildings down on purpose: place the charges, set the delays, and try to drop the structure in its footprint without breaking the neighbours' windows.
Voron 2.4
A 350 mm Voron 2.4 CoreXY printer in dark blue and orange, built from the bolts up and running Klipper.
AR Sandbox
A sandbox that maps itself: a depth camera reads the sand and a projector paints live contour lines and elevation colours back onto it as you dig.
